Roofing Services from Powell RoofingReplacement, Repair, Venting, Ice Dam Protection, Roof Replacement A quality roofing system is essential to the long-term protection and value of your home. Our first step is to evaluate your existing roof to determine if replacement is warranted. Mike Powell will talk with you about your goals for the project, explain the replacement options and provide information on the types and styles of material available. The safety of your family, home and possessions - including your landscaping, is our primary concern. We will check the weather forecast to avoid any water damage, and set up the job site as needed. Any special needs you may have will be considered in order to make the project as safe and convenient for you as possible. Roof Repair Powell Roofing has years of experience locating and repairing roof problems at the source. Knowing where the likely problem areas are, and repairing them properly, will save you time and money, and prevent further damage to your home. We examine all major roof components, report any problems and offer custom solutions. Venting It is important that your roof "breathe," which means it needs an adequate ventilation system beneath the roof deck.
Ice Dam Protection Ice dams are formed when heat from the inside of a home escapes into the attic and warms the roof decking during the winter. This heat, combined with heat from the sun, can melt snow on the roof. Melting snow on the upper roof and in the valleys then runs down toward the eaves as water. When it reaches the cold eaves and gutters it refreezes. The continual thaw and re-freeze process creates ice dams. The result is water backing up under the roof shingles or behind fascia boards where it can soak through the roof decking or wall sheathing, causing damage to attics, ceilings and walls. There are three ways to defend against the damage ice dams cause: insulation, ventilation and water proofing shingle felt underlayment.
